A 53-year-old man was arrested after Fresno police said he intentionally struck another vehicle multiple times during a road rage incident Friday night.
Officers responded about 9:52 p.m. to the area of North Chestnut and East Nees avenues after receiving a report of the incident, according to the Fresno Police Department.
The victim told officers he was driving east on Herndon Avenue from Millbrook Avenue when Lamar Ray Jr., who was traveling in an adjacent lane, merged toward his vehicle.
The victim slowed down before the two vehicles again became side by side. Police said Ray then made an abrupt turn toward the victim’s vehicle, striking its front passenger-side fender. The victim told officers he believed Ray was attempting to push his vehicle into the center median.
The victim followed Ray from a distance and called 911.
Police said Ray stopped at a red light at Herndon and Maple avenues before reversing into the front of the victim’s vehicle. Ray then drove forward before reversing into the vehicle a second time, according to police.
Ray drove east on Herndon Avenue before turning north onto Chestnut Avenue.
A Fresno police AIR1 crew located the vehicle and directed patrol officers to it. Officers stopped Ray near Nees and Chestnut avenues.
Ray was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail.
