A Fresno mother was arrested Monday after police said she drove three juvenile children while severely intoxicated before assaulting one of them during a confrontation at home.

Fresno police told GV Wire that officers were dispatched at approximately 3:50 a.m. for a reported family disturbance.

Police said three juvenile victims had been driven home by their mother, Jessica Garcia, whom officers described as severely intoxicated.

One of the juveniles told police Garcia was swerving across the road while driving them home. After arriving, Garcia was allegedly so intoxicated that she could not properly hold one of the children and made a mess in the kitchen while attempting to prepare a bottle, police said.

The juvenile confronted Garcia about her condition, leading to a verbal argument and then a physical fight, according to police.

Police said Garcia ended up on top of the juvenile, holding the victim by the hair and punching the juvenile multiple times.

Garcia also allegedly ripped off the juvenile’s sweater, causing the zipper to leave an approximately half-inch cut on the victim’s throat. The juvenile also suffered an approximately 1-inch cut inside the upper lip from being punched, police said.

Garcia was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of child abuse and three counts of child endangerment.
