Congressman David Valadao, R-Hanford, is bringing in a Republican big gun, House Speaker Mike Johnson, to energize his voters ahead of the November midterms.
Valadao’s campaign announced a 12:30 p.m. “Get Out the Vote” rally Wednesday in Bakersfield. The campaign said that the rally’s address can be obtained via reservation: RSVP@sierrahillsconsulting.com.
Valadao represents California’s 22nd District, which includes Kings County and portions of Tulare and Kern counties.

The veteran lawmaker is squaring off against challenger Randy Villegas, a Visalia Democrat, in a race that is considered critical to deciding which party controls the House in President Trump’s final two years in the White House.
Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont, is expected to rally on behalf of Villegas on Sunday in Bakersfield.
Valadao was re-elected to the House in 2024 with 53.4% of the vote against Democrat Rudy Salas.
The Cook Political Report rates the Valadao-Villegas race a “tossup,” while Sabato’s Crystal Ball says that the contest “leans Democrat.”
