POM Wonderful said Tuesday that it will invest $7 million in a new Boys & Girl Club in the Fresno County community of Del Rey.

Plans for the club include a full-sized indoor gym — a first for Del Rey — along with a technology lab supporting digital literacy, a creative lab for STEM and arts programming, a library and learning center, gaming and recreation areas, and other programming.

“Our current club may be small, but the potential of the kids who walk through its doors every day is anything but, ” said Jason Hannold, president and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County.

“With POM Wonderful’s support, we will be able to serve more young people, expand the experiences available to them and create a space that the entire Del Rey community can call its own.”

Officials said that the club will go supporting about 125 youth to more than 500.

The facility is also expected to include a communal hall and conference room that will be available to the community at minimal cost. Construction is expected to finish in late 2028.

“Del Rey is home to many of our employees and their families, who have helped make POM Wonderful what it is today. We believe deeply in giving back to the communities where our employees live and work by creating opportunities that can make a meaningful, lasting difference.”

Del Rey is about 3.5 miles southwest of Sanger and has about 1,500 residents.

POM Wonderful is the largest grower and producer of fresh pomegranates and pomegranate juice in the world. It has nearly 2 million pomegranate trees in Central California.
