A 57-year-old man who volunteered at a Fresno church was arrested after police said investigators confirmed he committed unlawful sexual acts involving three girls beginning in 2025.

The Fresno Police Department said it received a report Aug. 27 that Benjamin Mora had been involved in unlawful sexual acts with minors.

Members of a local church where Mora served as an unpaid volunteer alerted church leaders that he may have assaulted minor children, according to police. Church leaders then reported the allegations to law enforcement.

Detectives determined that Mora had performed illegal sex acts involving three female juvenile victims beginning in 2025, police said.

Mora was arrested Sept. 4 and booked into the Fresno County Jail on multiple sexual assault-related charges.

Police said Wednesday that Mora remains in custody and is scheduled to return to court Oct. 14.

Police said they will not release the ages of the three victims or identify the church with which Mora and the victims were affiliated because of the confidential nature of the investigation.
