Ed Sheeran apologized to fans Saturday for “making mistakes” after controversy over opening act Macklemore’s removal from his U.S. tour, ABC News reported.

Sheeran told the crowd at Lincoln Financial Field that the situation in Gaza is “catastrophic and unjustifiable and disproportionate,” while also calling the Oct. 7, 2023, attack at Israel’s Nova Music Festival horrific.

Macklemore said he was dropped after making pro-Palestinian remarks during a New Jersey show. Sheeran said the decision came from tour promoter Messina Touring Group, which said upcoming venues would not allow concerts to proceed with Macklemore on the remaining lineup dates.
