A 53-year-old man was arrested Monday after a woman told police he took her to a location against her will and beat her until she lost consciousness, according to the Fresno Police Department.

Officers responded about 9:06 a.m. to a report of domestic violence. Police said a reporting party told officers that the victim identified Rene Baca Duran as the person who assaulted her.

The woman told officers Duran took her to a location against her will and hit her, causing her to lose consciousness at one point during the assault. She was able to leave after Duran fell asleep, police said.

Officers apprehended Duran after he attempted to run from them, according to police. He was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail.

Police said the woman suffered a black eye and swelling on the left side of her face. She was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where medical personnel determined she had a fractured nose.

Fresno County arrest records show Duran was booked Monday on suspicion of kidnapping, false imprisonment with violence, inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant, battery causing serious bodily injury, and violating a domestic violence protective order.

The records list five felony charges and one misdemeanor charge, with bail amounts associated with the charges totaling $140,000.
