A suspect was taken into custody Tuesday evening after a reported domestic incident involving a firearm prompted a SWAT response in Winton, according to the Merced County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded about 5:30 p.m. to a home in the 6700 block of Cypress Avenue after receiving a report of a domestic incident involving a firearm, the Sheriff’s Office said.
During the investigation, deputies learned the suspect was possibly barricaded inside a residence in the area. The Merced County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team responded and located the suspect inside a home.
The suspect was taken into custody after resisting a sheriff’s K-9, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities did not immediately release the suspect’s identity or provide additional details about the circumstances surrounding the domestic incident.
The Sheriff’s Office said additional information, including the suspect’s identity, would be released when available.
