Visalia police are investigating after a deceased man was found Friday morning in a canal near Riggin Avenue.

Patrol officers responded at about 9:52 a.m. to a report of a person face down in a canal near Riggin Avenue between Mooney Boulevard and County Center, according to the Visalia Police Department.

When officers arrived, they found a deceased adult man in the water just north of Riggin Avenue.

The Visalia Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit, Crime Lab, and the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Coroner responded to the scene.

The Violent Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.
