Fresno Unified’s Parent University has a deal for district families: a movie, new backpacks and school supplies.

The district’s family engagement arm will distribute backpacks and school supplies on a first-come, first-served basis from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6, at Maya Cinemas east of the Fresno State campus.

In addition, the event includes a screening of the hit Disney/Pixar movie Toy Story 5.

“As we look ahead to the 2026-27 school year, I’m excited to help get our families set up for success,” said Superintendent Misty Her in a news release. “We’re excited to offer this chance to connect and share more about all the resources available at Fresno Unified. These opportunities help ensure we meet our goal of strengthening our students’ life skills districtwide.”
