The Taco Bell Foundation recognized the employees behind a simple question that has helped generate millions of dollars for students and nonprofits during its first-ever “Impact Week.”
Across 18 Southern California Taco Bell restaurants, “Live Más Scholars” surprised and thanked Taco Bell Team Members whose everyday “Would you like to Round Up?” requests helped raise nearly $2.4 million for Los Angeles and Orange County communities last year.
The “Round Up” program allows customers to add a small donation to their purchase, with funds supporting “Live Más Scholarships” and Community Grants for local nonprofit organizations, including Boys & Girls Clubs of Long Beach and City Year Los Angeles.
During Impact Week, scholars celebrated Team Members with cheers, confetti and recognition gifts, including exclusive Taco Bell merchandise, creating a full-circle moment between the employees who help power the program and the students whose lives have been impacted by it.
“I’m a Taco Bell Team Member, so I’m excited and so proud to be a part of this,” said Jesus Limon, a two-time “Live Más Scholarship” recipient. “I’ve always been on the other side of the counter, and I think that coming from a different perspective has really made me think of ways that I can bring it back to my store, my team, and really just recognize them in the right way.”
Since 1992, the Taco Bell Foundation has awarded more than $246 million in scholarships and grants, helping young people pursue their passions and reach their potential.
