MSNBC suffered one of its worst days in two decades last week, grappling with declining viewership following President-elect Donald Trump’s victory over Vice President Kamala Harris, reported Fox News.

On Nov. 26, the network recorded its lowest-rated non-holiday weekday in the advertiser-coveted 25-54 age demographic since July 19, 2004, with only 38,000 viewers.

This demographic, prized for its spending power and influence, rarely sees MSNBC numbers dip this low outside of holidays like New Year’s Day and July 4.

Several shows experienced record lows that day, including “The 11th Hour with Stephanie Ruhle” and “Jose Diaz Balart Reports,” which hit their smallest audiences among total viewers. Programs such as “Chris Jansing Reports” and “Deadline: White House” also marked all-time lows among the critical demo.

Since Election Day, key MSNBC programs — including “The Rachel Maddow Show,” “ReidOut,” and “Inside with Jen Psaki” — have lost more than half of their 25-54 viewership compared to their 2024 averages.

The decline coincides with Comcast’s recent announcement to spin off NBCUniversal cable assets, including MSNBC, into a separate entity. This raises questions about the network’s future resources, branding, and editorial direction.

Controversies have compounded the network’s struggles. “Morning Joe” co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski faced backlash for meeting Trump privately after years of harsh criticism.

Additionally, host Al Sharpton came under fire for revelations that his nonprofit accepted money from the Harris campaign before an interview with the vice president.
