A multi-agency law enforcement operation targeting gang activity across California’s Central Valley resulted in 69 arrests and the seizure of 73 firearms, Fresno County authorities announced Monday.
The operation, dubbed “Operation Hands Down,” culminated after a two-month investigation focused on Mexican Mafia and Sureño gang members, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities served 43 search warrants Thursday at multiple locations throughout the San Joaquin Valley. Investigators said the operation targeted a range of alleged criminal activity, including homicides, firearms trafficking, narcotics trafficking, shootings, robberies, assaults, sex offenses against minors, and organized violence within custodial facilities.

Officials said the operation led to the seizure of 73 guns, numerous high-capacity magazines, and large quantities of ammunition.
Investigators also confiscated various narcotics, including 55 pounds of methamphetamine, about 3 pounds of cocaine, and a small amount of fentanyl powder.

Nearly $156,000 in cash was seized, which authorities said was linked to narcotics trafficking, firearms sales, and organized street gang taxes.
More than 500 law enforcement personnel participated in the operation, according to authorities.
A variety of local, state, and federal agencies participated in the operation, including the California Department of Justice, FBI, Fresno County District Attorney’s Office, Fresno Police Department, Clovis Police Department, and numerous other law enforcement partners.
