A diesel spill from a big rig crash blocked two lanes on northbound Interstate 5 near Sutterville Road in Sacramento on Thursday, prompting an extensive cleanup effort, transportation officials said.
The crash occurred on northbound I-5 near Sutterville Road in Sacramento, according to Caltrans. Diesel fuel spilled onto the freeway, leading crews to close two lanes for containment and cleanup operations.
Caltrans said the estimated time for a full reopening of the roadway is about three hours.
Officials did not immediately release information about injuries or what caused the crash.
Motorists were advised to expect delays in the area as crews worked to clear the spill and reopen all lanes.
