A Madera resident has been arrested on child pornography charges following a joint investigation by local and federal authorities, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday on social media.

Alfredo Lopez, 36, of Madera, was taken into custody on Thursday after a search of his property in the 17000 block of Daley Road.

The investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children tipped off authorities about potential child pornography activity in the area.

Detectives from the sheriff’s office, the Central California Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and Homeland Security Investigations executed a search warrant, uncovering electronic devices allegedly containing child pornography.

Lopez is in custody at the Madera County Jail while all of his electronic devices are being thoroughly examined.
