A man died after being pulled from Huntington Lake following a swimming incident, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said.

Around 1:30 p.m., sheriff’s dispatchers received a report of a missing swimmer at the lake.

Authorities said a man and woman had been swimming together when the woman made it safely back to shore, but the man did not.

Shortly after 2 p.m., the sheriff’s helicopter, EAGLE One, located a person submerged near the docks.

Deputies aboard the helicopter directed a rescue swimmer with the Huntington Lake Volunteer Fire Department to the location.

The rescuer retrieved the man from approximately 15 feet underwater and brought him to shore, authorities said.

CPR was performed, but the man was later pronounced dead.

The sheriff’s office said the man was not wearing a life jacket and had been underwater for approximately one hour.

His identity has not been released.
