On Thursday, a Placer County jury found Paige Grant McQuay, a former Fresno police sergeant, guilty of attempted lewd and lascivious acts on a minor under 14 and communicating with a minor with the intent commit an unlawful sexual offense, according to the Placer County District Attorney’s Office.
McQuay, then 56-years-old had been arrested in September 2024 by the Roseville Police Department in a sting operation that resulted in the arrest of 19 total individuals. At the time, he was taken into custody and booked in the Fresno County jail.
The trial took six days and McQuay will be sentenced on Nov. 9 at 9 a.m. in Placer County Superior Court.
He had been a police officer with the Fresno Police Department since 1993.
A Fresno Police Department spokesperson said the department appreciates Placer County’s commitment to ensuring the former sergeant was brought to justice.
