GV Wire’s Edward Smith talks with KMPH Fox 26 “Great Day” anchor Karl Cooke about the rise in gold prices and how Fresno residents are using this opportunity to cash in on their jewelry.

Smith explains that gold’s record price is related to the tariffs that President Trump proposed in April.

When there’s fear or disruptions in the economy, people buy gold as a safe haven, he said.

Gold peaked in April, topping $3,500 an ounce and has hovered near that mark since.
