In the summer of 2020, Christian Gonzalez dealt 10 fentanyl pills to someone who then passed one of the pills to another person, resulting in a fatal overdose.

On Tuesday, the 25-year-old Fresno resident received a sentence of six years and eight months in prison for distributing fentanyl, Acting U.S. Attorney Michele Beckwith said in a news release.

Gonzalez Busted in Undercover Sting

According to court documents, about a month after the fatal OD, an undercover officer posing as a drug buyer ordered fentanyl pills from Gonzalez and met him in a parking lot. Gonzalez brought fentanyl pills to the meet-up and was arrested

On July 29, 2024, Gonzalez pleaded guilty to fentanyl distribution.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin J. Gilio prosecuted the case.

The Fentanyl Overdose Resolution Team — composed of Homeland Security Investigations, the DEA, and the Fresno Police Department — investigated the case.
