Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Thursday, Aug. 8, at the intersection of Lane and Recreation Avenues, reports the Fresno Police Department.

Officers responding to reports of gunfire discovered Arnold Ortega, 37, with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of officers and paramedics, Ortega died at the scene.
Investigations reveal that Ortega was walking along Recreation Avenue when he was confronted by several males who began assaulting him. During the attack, one suspect shot Ortega multiple times. The motive for the shooting remains unclear.

Detectives are canvassing the area for witnesses and surveillance footage to gather more information about the homicide.
