Fresno police arrested a domestic violence suspect Friday at Thorne and Herndon avenues after locating the individual during an operation targeting people with outstanding warrants, authorities said.

The Fresno Police Department said officers spotted the suspect earlier as part of an ongoing effort to serve domestic violence warrants. The suspect was later arrested on a warrant for criminal threats, police said.

Witnesses at the scene said officers approached a vehicle with guns drawn. At least seven police vehicles were seen in the area. The vehicle was later left at the scene with its door open while police remained nearby.

Witnesses also reported seeing a drone overhead during the incident. Police confirmed a drone was used, along with a K-9 unit being at the scene.

The suspect was taken into custody. Fresno police didn’t identify the suspect before publication of this story.

When asked about the heavy police presence, a department spokesperson said Fresno PD deploys all necessary resources to ensure the safety of the community, officers, and suspects.
