Fresno State baseball standout and two-way player Tommy Hopfe has signed a one-year, $100,000 guaranteed contract with the Colorado Rockies.
He was drafted in the ninth round as the 258th pick overall in the MLB Draft. He officially signed with Colorado on Sunday. The Rockies list him as a first baseman.
Hopfe is the ninth Bulldog in school history to be drafted by the Rockies and the highest Fresno State draftee by Colorado, whose California League farm team is the Fresno Grizzlies.

Hopfe’s Fresno State Career
The Bakersfield native spent four years with the Bulldogs and earned All-Mountain West honors in back-to-back seasons. He compiled a .329 batting average with 41 doubles, six triples, and 23 home runs. He also had 117 RBI, 117 runs scored, a .536 slugging percentage, and a .408 on-base percentage in 175 games.
With 92 2/3 innings on the mound, the right-handed pitcher accumulated a 4.86 ERA in 68 appearances. He had a 3-4 career record and 20 saves, including eight in 2024. The 6-1, 210-pound athlete was a catcher and a designated hitter in his first three years with the team.
