A freeway traffic stop by narcotics detectives in western Fresno County produced the arrest of a Seattle man and the confiscation of 50 pounds of potentially deadly counterfeit pills on Tuesday.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that Miguel Romero Reyes was booked into jail with bail set at $200,000.
Detectives with the sheriff’s Special Investigations Task Force pulled Reyes over on Interstate 5 at Highway 33 near Coalinga. During a search of the vehicle, detectives found 50 pounds of counterfeit 200,000 M30 pills containing fentanyl, authorities said.
The seized pills — disguised as Oxycodone —have an estimated street value of $600,000, sheriff’s spokesman Tony Botti said.
