A 26-year-old driver suspected of driving under the influence crashed into a residential property Wednesday, striking a fence and gas meter, the Madera Police Department said.

Officers responded about noon to a solo-vehicle collision in the 1300 block of Dellavalle Avenue.

Police said the driver, identified as Marco Sanchez Mendez, drove onto the residential property and struck the property’s fence and gas meter.

No injuries were reported.

Officers determined Sanchez Mendez had been driving under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration more than twice California’s legal limit of 0.08%, police said.

The homeowner reported the crash, allowing officers to respond to the scene, according to the department.

Pacific Gas & Electric Co. also responded to address the damaged gas meter and help ensure the residence and surrounding area were safe.
