A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday evening in a crash involving a pickup truck towing a livestock trailer in Fresno, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported about 6:50 p.m. on Parkway Drive north of Herndon Avenue, CHP said. Officers and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene.
A preliminary investigation found that an adult man driving a Dodge Ram flatbed pickup truck was exiting the north driveway of the EZ Trip gas station while towing a 28-foot livestock trailer.
The pickup driver was preparing to turn left onto southbound Parkway Drive as an adult man riding a Yamaha R6 motorcycle approached northbound on Parkway Drive, according to CHP.
The pickup had traveled about halfway across the roadway when its driver saw the approaching motorcycle, CHP said. The motorcycle then crashed into the left side of the pickup, causing major damage and critically injuring the rider.
The motorcyclist died from his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup driver was not injured.
CHP said alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.
The crash remains under investigation.
CHP reminded drivers to use caution when entering roadways and to watch carefully for approaching motorcycles.
