Three people were arrested early Sunday after Fresno police responding to reports of gunfire found three handguns inside a vehicle, authorities said.
Officers responded about 2:24 a.m. to the area of Fruit and California avenues after several ShotSpotter activations, according to the Fresno Police Department.
Police said the locations of the activations suggested the shooter or shooters were moving. Officers found several spent casings and later heard additional gunfire while investigating.
A caller also reported hearing shots and seeing a white sedan believed to be connected to the gunfire.
Officers found a vehicle matching the description and stopped it. Police said officers saw spent casings inside the vehicle as they approached.
The three occupants were removed, and officers found three handguns, including one in the waistband of a passenger, police said.
Fresno police identified the men as Noe Tapia, Leonel Perez, and Isidrio Perez.
All three occupants were arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail on firearm-related charges.
