Two neighbors subdued a 21-year-old man early Friday after police said he broke into multiple residences in north Visalia, including an apartment where a mother and her two daughters were sleeping.

Visalia police were dispatched about 1:26 a.m. to the 400 block of North Sol Street after emergency medical personnel requested assistance with a medical aid call.

While officers were responding, dispatchers received additional reports of a naked man running through the neighborhood and banging on residents’ doors. One caller reported the man had broken into her apartment, forcing her to lock herself inside a bedroom.

When officers arrived, witnesses directed them to another apartment, where two neighbors were holding the man down after seeing him force his way into the residence, police said.

Officers identified the man as Orlin Pacheco-Paz. He was taken to Kaweah Health for medical clearance because of what police described as erratic behavior.

Investigators said Pacheco-Paz lived at a nearby transitional home and had reportedly been chasing a roommate through the neighborhood before entering multiple residences.

Police said Pacheco-Paz eventually kicked open the front door of an apartment on North Sol Street where a mother and her two daughters were sleeping. He then allegedly tried to force his way into a bedroom where the mother and her younger daughter had locked themselves.

Two neighbors who witnessed the incident intervened, subdued Pacheco-Paz and held him until officers arrived.

Police said Pacheco-Paz will be booked on suspicion of burglary, resisting arrest, and child endangerment after he is medically cleared.
