California’s electric vehicle transition is continuing despite federal efforts to slow adoption, the Los Angeles Times reported.

President Donald Trump has ended federal EV tax credits, revoked California’s authority to set stricter emissions standards and overturned the state’s electric vehicle sales target.

Still, about 19% of new vehicle sales in California were zero-emission models in the second quarter, nearly three times the national rate.

The state now has more than 216,000 publicly available EV chargers, exceeding the number of gasoline nozzles.

California is also defending its 2035 ban on sales of new gasoline-powered cars in court amid ongoing federal opposition.
