President Donald Trump said pro-Israel lobbying groups have lost influence in Washington compared with 20 to 25 years ago, pointing particularly to shifting attitudes among House Democrats, according to Al Jazeera.

In an interview aired Tuesday on Real America’s Voice, Trump described the change as striking. His remarks follow polling showing declining support for Israel among Democrats and divisions among Republicans.

Trump has previously acknowledged weakening support for Israel, including among young Republicans. He also renewed criticism of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, calling him “virtually a Palestinian.”

Similar remarks previously drew condemnation from Jewish and Muslim groups, which viewed the language as derogatory.
