Iraq PM Tells Rubio Country Must Not Be Used as Launch Pad for Iran War

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani told U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio that Iraq must not be used as a launch pad for attacks amid the war with Iran, The Times of Israel reported.
Sudani stressed that Iraqi airspace, territory and waters should not be used for military action against neighboring countries and rejected attempts to draw Iraq into the conflict.
Iraq has faced strikes targeting Iran-backed groups and attacks on U.S. facilities since the war began Feb. 28.
The State Department said Rubio condemned attacks by Iran and allied militias. Iraqi air defenses intercepted rockets targeting the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad on Saturday.
