Just before 1 p.m. Wednesday, firefighters responded to reports of a vegetation fire along westbound Highway 180 west of Clovis Avenue, the Fresno Fire Department said.
The first crews to arrive found several acres of dry grass burning alongside the freeway.
Firefighters established a water supply using fire hydrants at the adjacent Amazon facility and used an engine’s deck gun to quickly knock down the fire, preventing it from spreading further, according to the fire department.
Crews remained at the scene extinguishing hot spots and working to ensure the fire was fully contained.
Motorists traveling through the area were urged to use caution, slow down, and watch for emergency vehicles as firefighters continued operations along the freeway.
