A 36-year-old Fresno man was killed early Sunday morning after officers responded to a reported shooting in the area of East Dakota Avenue and North Abby Street, according to the Fresno Police Department.
Central Policing District officers were dispatched to the area around 12:50 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting victim lying in the roadway. Officers found Keith Breazell of Fresno suffering from a gunshot wound.
Officers and emergency medical personnel attempted life-saving measures, but Breazell was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooting marks the 14th homicide investigated by Fresno police in 2026.
Homicide detectives determined a large number of people had gathered in the area for a Fourth of July celebration before the shooting occurred. Investigators are canvassing the neighborhood and are asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
