A 25-year-old man was arrested following a stolen vehicle investigation that led to a pursuit, crash, and foot chase, according to the Fresno Police Department.

On June 7, officers patrolling the Marketplace at El Paseo at Herndon Avenue and Riverside Drive observed a vehicle they recognized as stolen. Officers confirmed the vehicle was reported stolen and attempted a traffic stop.

The driver, identified as Justin Boni, did not stop and fled.

Officers followed the vehicle nearby until it collided with a center median at Brent and Palo Alto avenues. Boni then ran from the vehicle.

Officers located Boni nearby and took him into custody.

During the investigation, officers determined Boni was also a suspect in a Fresno County Sheriff’s Office–investigated residential burglary in which the vehicle had been stolen.

Boni was transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

On Friday, Boni was released from the hospital and booked into the Fresno County Jail.
