A magnitude 4.1 earthquake struck near Johannesburg in Southern California on Monday, according to seismic data reported by the United States Geological Survey.
The quake occurred at 3:34 p.m. PT on Monday with an epicenter about 11 miles west-southwest of Johannesburg. It was recorded at a depth of 3.9 miles.
The earthquake was measured at magnitude 4.06 on the moment magnitude scale, according to the California Integrated Seismic Network.
Scientists reviewed the data, which was based on readings from 113 seismic stations and 110 seismic phases, the USGS website showed.
The earthquake’s location uncertainty was estimated at 0.2 kilometers, while depth uncertainty was estimated at 0.7 kilometers.
No information on damage, injuries or whether the quake was felt was immediately available.
