The Colorado Fire burning near Highway 140 and Colorado Road in Mariposa County grew to 171 acres Tuesday afternoon, prompting evacuation orders, road closures, and a power shutoff in the affected area.
The wildfire was 0% contained as of 3:31 p.m. Tuesday and was threatening 45 structures, according to CalFire. The cause remained under investigation.
Evacuation orders were issued for Rancheria Creek Road, Briceburg, including all campgrounds, and the Octagon area, according to the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office. Click here to see the affected area.
An evacuation warning was issued for Colorado Road from Highway 140 to Rancheria Creek.
A temporary evacuation point was established at New Life Calvary Chapel, 5089 Cole Road in Mariposa.
Highway 140 was closed from Briceburg to the Bug Hostel.
PG&E shut off power in the affected area, impacting about 20 customers, according to the sheriff’s office.
CalFire said 126 personnel were assigned to the incident, including 14 engines, three water tenders, four helicopters, two dozers, and three hand crews.
Numerous firefighting air tankers from across the state were also flying suppression missions as conditions allowed.
