A man in his 20s died Wednesday after being crushed in an industrial accident at a trucking repair yard in Fresno, authorities said.
Deputies with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched shortly after 4 p.m. to a report of an injured person near the intersection of Belmont and Lafayette avenues. They found the man suffering from major injuries.
Deputies provided medical aid, but the man died at the scene, officials said.
Preliminary information indicates the victim, a mechanic working in the yard, became pinned between a semi-truck tractor and a trailer as the vehicle was being hooked up. He was crushed during the process.
Because the incident occurred on private property and is considered an industrial collision, the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health will handle the investigation, authorities said.
Update at 11:08 a.m.
The Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office identified the man as Gurpreet Singh, 21, of Fresno.
