Two people were arrested Tuesday after Kern County sheriff’s deputies investigating a report of gunfire found nine firearms, ammunition and spent casings at a residence, authorities said.
Deputies responded about 6 p.m. to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 9800 block of Sunset Boulevard, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
Witnesses told deputies that shots had been fired from a residence in the area.
Deputies contacted Bryan Trujillo, 25, and Angel Torres, 63, who both denied hearing gunshots or being involved in a shooting, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence. During the search, deputies found nine firearms, numerous rounds of ammunition, and spent casings inside the residence and in the yard.
Authorities said additional interviews determined that Trujillo and Torres conspired to negligently discharge a firearm from the property.
Both were arrested and booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Lerdo Receiving Facility.
No injuries were reported.
