Marcos Osorio made an impressive splash in the early returns Tuesday night for the open trustee seat on the State Center Community College board.

With 15.98% of the ballots counted, Osorio had 45.44% of the vote compared to 28.09% for Fresno businessman and developer Terance Frazier.

Frazier, the husband of state Assemblymember Esmeralda Soria, received widespread media attention for an incident last month in the Fresno High area.

A video taken by Osorio’s sister, Allyson Osorio, showed her confronting a man who closely resembled and sounded like Frazier. Allyson Osorio said she caught the man rifling through the mail at her brother’s home. The man in the video claimed his name was Charles Smith.

However, several of Frazier’s business associates confirmed to GV Wire that the man in the video was Frazier.

Calls for Frazier to Drop Out of the Race

After the incident, which was reported to Fresno police and U.S. Postal inspectors, Osorio demanded that Frazier drop out of the race.

The State Center Federation of Teachers also called on Frazier to exit the Area 5 race because of what it called “political intimidation.”

Osorio runs a government relations company and formerly worked for Rep. Adam Gray.

Frazier and Osorio are vying for the seat held by Rob Fuentes, who chose to run for the Fresno City Council instead of seeking reelection.

Rodriguez Leads in Quest for Second Term

SCCCD Trustee Destiny Rodriguez, first elected to the board in 2022, took command of the Area 1 race with nearly 61% of the vote in the early tabulations.

She is facing challengers Nicholas Salinas (26.38%) and Omair Javaid (11.57%).
