A Kern County firefighter was hospitalized with serious injuries Tuesday after being involved in a vehicle accident while driving to work, officials said.

The Kern County Fire Department said firefighters and emergency personnel from partner agencies responded to the scene and provided immediate medical care.

The firefighter was airlifted to a local hospital and remains hospitalized in stable condition, according to the department.

Officials did not release additional details about the circumstances of the crash. Further information will be shared when appropriate, the department said.
