Clovis Police have submitted a misdemeanor charge against a 41-year-old Fresno man following an investigation into a student walkout that involved roughly 200 students from multiple Clovis high schools on Feb. 10.

Alfred Aldrete is facing one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor after police said he was present during the protest and allegedly helped direct student activity that disrupted traffic. The walkout was related to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to the Clovis Police Department.

Investigators also noted Aldrete was present at a separate student gathering on Feb. 5 that occurred outside of school hours. The completed report has been submitted to the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office for review, and no additional details have been released.

The Clovis Police Department said it recognizes the constitutional right to lawful protest and the expression of personal beliefs, but it urged students and parents to follow established school attendance policies.
