A sold-out crowd turned out to celebrate the rise of Clovis as one of California’s leading communities on Thursday morning.
Proceeds from the annual Mayor’s Breakfast put on by the Clovis Community Foundation support cultural, educational, recreational, artistic, and children’s programs.
Mayor Vong Mouanoutoua told the audience at the Clovis Memorial District that the city focuses on shared prosperity and “working together.”
“I learned how great America is by seeing how great Clovis is,” said Mouanoutoua, who moved to Clovis in 1996 from Huntington Beach after his family immigrated as refugees from Laos in the mid-1970s.
Clovis was named the top-ranked California city on Livability’s 2026 list of the 100 Best Places to Live in the U.S. while also placing No. 52 nationally.
Livability said its annual rankings focused on small- and mid-sized cities where residents can find affordable housing, shorter commutes, and a higher quality of life.
The publication evaluated more than 2,000 U.S. cities and ranked the top 100 based on more than 100 data points across eight categories.
