An overturned big rig on northbound Highway 99 at Clinton Avenue is causing major traffic delays in Fresno on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.

Both directions of the highway were affected, with southbound traffic backed up to Ashlan Avenue and northbound lanes congested past downtown Fresno, authorities said.

California Highway Patrol and Fresno Fire Department responded to the scene.

The Fresno Fire Department reported that a person trapped inside was rescued and had only minor injuries.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
