Deputy Timothy Corlew of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office died on Wednesday following a traffic accident while on duty, Sheriff Chad Bianco announced in a statement.

The deputy, assigned to the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station, was involved in the crash while responding to a call.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office described Corlew’s death as a tragic event for the department and community.

Further details surrounding the accident have not been released.
