After sweating through more than a month of triple-digit temperatures this summer, Fresnans can look forward to almost-sweater weather later this week.

But if you blink, you might miss it. Friday’s forecast high of 84 degrees will be the low point of this week’s temperatures, and one of only two days of sub-90s weather, forecaster J.P. Kalb of the National Weather Service in Hanford told GV Wire on Monday.

The overnight lows might cause some to pull out that sweater. The low early Friday morning is forecast for 61 degrees, followed by 60 degrees early Saturday morning, Kalb said.

The bliss of unseasonably cooler weather is being brought to us by a large low-pressure trough that’s scheduled to come onshore later this week, bringing wind gusts of up to 20 mph Thursday afternoon and evening.

Triple Digits Back for Labor Day?

The high temperatures this week in Fresno will peak Tuesday and then dip lower leading up to Friday. Kalb said Monday’s forecast high for Fresno is 95, 96 on Tuesday, 94 on Wednesday, 91 on Thursday, 84 on Friday, 88 on Saturday, and back up to 96 on Sunday.

The longer-range forecast has a 40 to 60% chance of above-normal temperatures, so we could be looking at triple-digit temperatures again just in time for the Labor Day weekend, he said.
