Taliban Appoint Former Guantanamo Detainee to Top Afghanistan Defense Post

Afghanistan’s Taliban have begun appointing veterans of the insurgent group to key posts in their government, according to internal sources. Among them is former Guantanamo Bay detainee Mullah Abdul Qayyum Zakir, who was named acting defense minister, Al Jazeera news channel reported.
