A telethon Thursday by a Fresno television station to raise money for Valley Children’s Hospital pulled in $219,068, the Madera County medical center said Friday.
The “Futures Worth Fighting For” event by ABC30 included special reports and features at the hospital throughout the day.

The telethon is one of the larger fundraisers for the hospital. The biggest is the annual Kids Day event, held each spring, in which special editions of The Fresno Bee are sold by hundreds of volunteers throughout the Valley. The event is co-sponsored by The Bee and ABC30. This year, the 32nd edition of Kids Day pulled in a record $634,301.82.
