A juvenile was arrested Wednesday after allegedly sending an email to Coalinga High School administrators warning of a possible gun threat, police said.
Coalinga police said officers were notified about 10 a.m. of an email sent to school administrators regarding a possible threat involving a firearm.
School staff and officers worked together to identify a student who allegedly sent the email, police said.
Officers contacted the student and, with assistance from the student’s parents, determined the juvenile did not have access to any firearms and that the threat was fabricated, according to police.
The student was taken into custody on suspicion of publishing a threat to a school and later transported to the Fresno County Juvenile Justice Campus on a felony charge.
Police did not identify the juvenile because of his age.
