“Go back to your own country.”
It’s a comment often directed at Muslims in America today.
Yet, a vast majority (over 80 percent) of those who practice the Islamic faith across the country are U.S. citizens, according to a report by Pew Research Center. Almost half of those surveyed reported facing some kind of discriminatory treatment last year, the report said.
At the same time, a similar number reported someone expressing support to them because of their faith.
The video above, drawn from many sources, illustrates the challenges Muslims face today and their aspirations, as well. You can also read the full Pew report here: “U.S. Muslims Concerned About Their Place in Society, but Continue to Believe in the American Dream.”
