More than 75% of all Americans reaching age 72 will need blood in their lifetimes.
In our Valley, that critical need is met by the Central California Blood Center.

“Every day, it’s important that we see more than 300 blood donors.”

Established after World War II, CCBC “has been an important part of this community for more than 60 years,” says Leslie Botos, Director of Community Relations.
The Center provides blood and services to patients who receive care at 30 hospitals and a network of facilities in Fresno, Tulare, Madera, Kings and Mariposa counties.
“Every day, it’s important that we see more than 300 blood donors” to ensure a plentiful supply, Botos says.
A few years ago, 3,000-4,000 pints of blood monthly would have served the Central Valley region. Now, the required monthly inventory has now increased to approximately 5,000-6,000 pints.
In addition to donors of blood, platelets and plasma, CCBC also relies on community volunteers and financial support.
As Botos shares in the video above, “We believe in the importance of local; people helping people in our community.”
