Update: Fresno Unified Superintendent Bob Nelson announced at a Monday afternoon news conference on coronavirus updates that Wednesday’s board meeting has been canceled.
________
The boards of Fresno’s three largest school districts are scheduled to meet this week, as the first of at least four weeks of local school closures gets underway due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
Central Unified School District’s board will hold a special meeting Tuesday to talk about impacts to the district from the coronavirus, first in closed session with Superintendent Andy Alvarado, and then in an open session.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and be held at the Central High School East Campus Wayne “Hondo” Hodge Performing Arts Center, 3535 N. Cornelia Ave.
Fresno and Clovis unified school districts are scheduled to hold their regular board meetings on Wednesday.

Agendas Adjusted Due To Virus

Fresno Unified’s open session is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. with the pledge of allegiance led by a staffer, not a parent, from Slater Elementary School. There will be no Student Advisory presentations, and the district has canceled a public hearing on the Dailey Elementary Charter School renewal petition and discussions about feedback on the Local Control and Accountability Plan and the 2020-21 budget.
Fresno’s board will meet in the district headquarters, 2309 Tulare St. The meetings are broadcast on Comcast Xfinity Channel 94 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99, and also on the web through Ustream.
Clovis’ agenda shows little change, other than to note that according to a directive on Thursday from Gov. Gavin Newsom related to the coronavirus emergency, board members for now may attend meetings by telephone if they choose without public notice, which is usually required under the state’s Open Meetings Act.
The public board meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. in the boardroom of the Professional Development Building, 1680 David E. Cook Way, in Clovis.
